Blood test during pregnancy
During pregnancy, you will be offered a blood test and fetal ultrasound. The blood test for pregnancy include:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) test to measure the difference part and features of your blood, including size and shape of red blood cell, platelet, white blood cell, etc.
- Blood Group and Rh group for confirm Rh Positive or Rh Negative because usually in Asian will have Rh Positive
- Thalassemia has 2 options for testing included OF, MCV, DCIP or Hb typing. The physician will select the appropriate test for the pregnancy.
- Sexually transmitted disease included HIV, Hepatitis B, Syphilis
Other screening
- Antibody Hepatitis b, Rebella antibodies
- Diabetes Mellitus Screening is required for risk group example have family history diagnosed with DM, Body mass Index ≥ 23 kg/m2, have history high blood sugar level. If you are in this criterion will get test by glucose intake 1 glass and blood test in 1 hour afterwards (Normal range < 140 mg%) and if you are exclusion this criterion will get the DM Screening between 24-28 week of pregnancy.
- Down Syndrome Screening by blood test or Fetal cell DNA the screening will perform early as 10 weeks of pregnancy.
Recommend; Father should be test with Thalassemia and Sexually transmitted diseases with mother for protect your child.
